Orlando City Soccer Club

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Orlando, Florida

We are CITY! Hear us ROAR!

Orlando City Soccer Club takes pride of place in Orlando, Florida, as the club joins the USLPro soccer division for their inaugural season. In short, soccer has returned to Orlando in a big way! Our goal is to make professional soccer the pride of Orlando and Central Florida.

To accomplish our goal, we have assembled soccer savvy ownership, skilled management and an experienced team necessary to take us onward to the highest level of professional soccer here in America.

A little background about our brand:
First, the name Orlando City was chosen to reflect our community's transformation into one of America's major cities as we evolve into this market's second major league sports franchise along with the Orlando Magic.

"City" states we are the equals of anyone. "City" says that all of us who live here are part of a vibrant population that expects the best that any large city offers. Orlando City intends to give us all the best soccer experience possible.  The "City Beautiful" deserves the "Beautiful Game."

"City" is also a well-respected name used by English football clubs.  In fact, we are proud to announce that Stoke City Football Club in the English Premier League is one of our affiliate clubs.

Our brand starts with our colors, City Regal Red, City Pride Purple and City Cup Gold.

City Regal Red illustrates our passion to always perform at our best, our physical skill and stamina, and our desire to rule over our opponents. Yes, City Pride Purple shows our pride in our City, our fans and our club. It says we love what we do and are not afraid to show it! City Cup Gold is the color of the cups, trophies and championships we intend to win and display, for the world to see.

We incorporate these three colors into our “OC” monogram, which interlocks our commitment to Orlando to make pro soccer a success. Our name, "Orlando City" arches and curves over the OC monogram like a bending shot on goal.

The shape of our crest represents the traditions of soccer in a contemporary style. The three-sided equilateral shield is considered the most efficient of all shapes, while the three sides of the shield represent soccer's past, present and future here in Orlando - from the Orlando Lions and the 1994 World Cup to our future in MLS.   The wide border says "give us our space" and stand back.   The cutting edge of our shield is rendered in Gold, the most precious of all metals and the color of the cups we intend to win.

Our "Three Lions" mark symbolizes our group effort.  The mane of the middle lion is the shape of a soccer ball panel. In addition, the word "pride" is the collective noun for lions.  We are proud of what we do. We know we must be greater than the sum of our individual parts. Together we can accomplish our goals. Together we win. In that regard, the three lions also represent the three facets of the game we love: defense, mid-field and attack.  The three lions also pay homage to England where soccer was born.

Together, our colors, our monogram, our shield, our pride of lions and our community spirit represent our vision for professional soccer here in Orlando.

We are CITY!  Hear us ROAR!
