British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)
The BBC is a world leader in programme production and broadcasting, a pioneer in communications across the globe in sound and vision. As custodian of the Corporation's radio and television output, the Information and Archive section is uniquely placed to provide a gateway for researchers, programme makers and business customers who wish to access this 21st century treasure chest.
The Information and Archive department is part of the Resources directorate of the BBC. It contains programme archives, as well as manuscripts documenting the BBC's history since its inception. Reference material including CDs, DVDs, sound effects, photographs and sheet music can be accessed from online databases and catalogues.
The department has an internal web site, under the auspices of the Resources Directorate. The site, @ccess @ll @rchives, allows users, mainly BBC researchers and programme makers, free access to the numerous databases available. They also have access to photographs and other reference material provided by the department, including stills, sound clips, press cuttings, anniversary dates, and searchable articles of interest.
